Exceeding the Pharisee

The plague of the Pharisees is an easy trap to fall into as Christians; if we are not watchful, and the very reason we were told to be careful of their leaven. A little leaven over time can leavened the whole lump leaving us thinking we are moving in the right direction.

The problem we have in our society is that people are not watchful; we love assumptions, failing to study the materials we have that we might know what is true. It is easier for us to flow with the main stream, which is a sign of ignorance, because if we were really smart, we would have taken time to notice the cliff up a head.

Sure the ride is sweet, and the company is great, or so we believe, but it is only great until we come to the end of the cliff. The smart ones look ahead before believing everything they are told, they go back to the scripture or source in-order to confirm the truth, and if the story or teaching fits, they will believe; this is while the majority of the world’s population is quick to accept what they are taught without investigation. 1. I have re-published this on my blog because this point must be repeated and repeated. Discernment, not passive, blank-minded, swallow-the-whole-thing gullibility, is what Christians are called to exercise.
