1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worked patience.4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Count it all joy when you fall into all kinds’ trouble, easy for James to say, and after all he is not here with us, but speaking from his life experience with Christ we can understand a few important things about his instruction, and if we were to master or understand what was said here, we would be both immovable and strong.
Why should we count it all joy when we fall into trouble, is it because we are unable to resolve our own issues, no! It is because we need to understand that God is in control of all things good and bad in our lives.
The lesson we need to learn from this statement is not that we are to be happy when bad things happen to us or anyone, but that we are to understand that our faith is being tried and learning from the experience will strengthen our faith. Do you believe God will be with you in trouble, do you believe he is with you always, if this is true, we will understand the statement made by James.
