And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26 KJV)
Before creation, God had planned to create a world that would complement his nature, and as a part of that plan he predestined humanity and purposefully created mankind in his image and likeness. In creating humanity he said, ” let us make man in our image, and after our likeness” and at that moment a partnership was born.
Because of sin, we are viewing ourselves less than what we really are, and to live that life according to our original form is hard to do in this world. It is not however, a difficult task to achieve, for in Christ Jesus we have been restored to our rightful position in heavenly places.
No doubt persecution will follow when we choose to live according to the likeness of Jesus Christ, and I understand the worst form of persecutions are the ones that comes from family. But Jesus said, “Blessed are they that are persecuted for righteousness sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven“. Although we are rejected by the world, we have something much more valuable than what the world have to give, and that is the kingdom of God.
With the kingdom of God we are able to bring healing to the world, we are able to raise the dead, heal the sick, casting those oppressing spirits out of the lives of those being attacked. Because we were made in God’s image, we with one word can change lives, not because we are gods, but because of the partnership we have with God. The partnership we have with God is an everlasting partnership, and because God saw it fit to have created us, he made us, but not like unto the animals of the earth, but according to his image and likeness.
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”. (Genesis 1:27 KJV)
