Confirmed by the Spirit

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwell with you, and shall be in you. (John 14:17 KJV)

Jesus is considered by scholars such as Weber ...

If you are a Christian, you may have known people who have heard the gospel, and even though it was made clear to them that they need Jesus in order to be saved, they yet refused to accept him after the fact. For us it is clear that Jesus is the only way, and sometimes we wonder why it is so impossible for the world to understand.

One of the main reasons the world cannot understand the gospel is because they have not open their hearts to receive the truth. The second reason is because they were not chosen at that time to join the fellowship of God.

We should know by now not everyone who hears the gospel will enter God’s kingdom, many will be left out because of choices they may have made. But we who have made the choice for Christ, responded to the voice of the holy Spirit, and with that response were identified as children of God.

Jesus came to save his people from their sins, and to bring us into the light of his word, and in responding to Jesus Christ we receive the gift he had promised to those who would believe, the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is God’s confirmation of who we are in his kingdom, sons of the king, and his mark that we were selected to be a part of his glory. The spirit of God through Jesus dwells in us, and shall be with us, and through the covenant of the spirit of God we have an everlasting and binding relationship that cannot be broken. The work we now do, will not be done by the power or will of the flesh, but by the power of the spirit of God that dwells in us.

The difficulties the world is facing with accepting Jesus as their savior is spelled out in the scripture, and words of Jesus Christ, “ Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive.” As his children it is possible for us to receive the spirit of truth, but for the world, it is impossible unless God open their eyes. It seems unfair from a human stand point that God would do such thing, but from a salvation stand point, if you have received Jesus into your life becoming a son of God, rejoice for you were his before the foundation of world, and are sealed by God having the guarantee of everlasting life confirmed by the holy Spirit.

Now as sons, the good news is that Jesus will never leave us nor will he forsake us, and whatever we ask of him he will perform for us to the glory of the father. ” And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14 KJV)

  1. We are all sons and daughters of the Creator, but some have gone prodigal and haven’t returned, because that requires humility. The Spirit seals us and binds us together as one who have chosen to follow Jesus. Oh that all God’s children would return and find the joy of God’s salvation.
