Genesis 1:26-29 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

The earth was created, and upon it God had established a kingdom, and man created in the likeness of God was to be His representative in this kingdom having dominion over all that God had made. The first man created along with his wife was to bring forth children that were predestined for this kingdom, children who would live for God to the glory of God in this kingdom on earth.

Created in God’s image man was the glory of the Creator, both in form and character. He was given power to bring to pass the will of God on earth. He was made in the likeness of God, meaning created to possess the nature of God through the Spirit of God, and fashioned in God’s image he was the glory of God. Jesus said unto to us in restoring the glory of God in man, and man in the love and likeness of God ” Abide in me and I in you ask what you will and it shall be done” This was to bring glory to God through humanity.

This was the glory that was taken away from man when he turned away from God in the garden, this was the relationship that was broken, but when God came in the form of humanity he glorified the body restoring the glory of God to man in himself. John 13:31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

From the beginning of time, the intent of God was for man to bear His glory and likeness, for man to be the light of the world bearing His name, the one through whom he would govern the universe; the entire created world. Adam failing in this area and purpose of his life brought the world into darkness, but Christ who came in the form of Adam has through His obedience brought light into the world and glory to the Father of creation.

John 14:12-14 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

In Christ Jesus we have been restored to glory and position in the kingdom of God for the glory of God the Father. Our lives are purposed in Christ to live for God bringing glory to God the Father that the world might know who our God is.

The message of Jesus was not that we are strangers, but rather we are sons to whom He was sent to redeem. God knew us from the beginning, for we were predestined in Adam to inherit the kingdom of God on earth. On account of Adam we were lost, but in due time God came in the form of man that he might restore us in the kingdom, that He might restore the predestined relationship with humanity.

We were predestined in Christ from the foundation of the world to be heirs of God, we were predestined in Adam to be sons of the kingdom, but due to Adam’s transgression as sons to be born we came into judgment. Nevertheless, God on account of faithfulness has reconciled us in Christ that we might as sons find peace with our Father. As a result of the work of God through Jesus we are once again the glory of God on earth.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
