Then we turned and went up the way of Bashan, and Og, the king of Bashan, came forth toward us, he and all his people, to war at Edrei 2. And the Lord said to me, “Do not fear him, for I have given him, all his people, and his land into your hand, and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon.” 3. So the Lord, our God, delivered into our hands also Og, the king of Bashan and all his people, and we smote him until no remnant remained of him. 4. And we conquered all his cities at that time; there was not a town that we did not take from them sixty cities, all the territory of Argob the kingdom of Og in Bashan. Deut 3:1-4
King Og was a great King living in a city with walls high and strong, but when God called Moses to go after him, he said to the people, “ Do not fear him, because I have given him and all his land and his people into your hand”. Jesus said the same to us, “ Behold I have given unto you power to thread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the powers of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.
Not to believe this message is to violate the will of God for our lives, Israel did disobey God’s word in wilderness, when God told them to take the land He had given into their hand, and in the end wondered forty years in the desert. The walls of Bashan were weak in the face of God’s word to Moses, and so are the walls of the enemies in our lives. When war and temptation comes before us, it a sign that God has placed our enemies under our feet.
