Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. Every day of our lives we fight against the flesh which is the most sly of all ungodly counsel in our lives.

Along with the outward temptations of this world, our flesh is the most dangerous, but if we are to hide within our hearts the word of God, choosing to obey his instruction, we will walk away from the pressures of temptation in victory.

Psalms 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

As a result of our victory and willingness to consider the word of God more precious than our lives, we will be like a tree planted for success.

Psalms 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Based on our experience and obedience, God will ensure whatever we do prosper, as he is the one who blesses and sustains. This is the blessing of God for his people. He will keep them and make their efforts prosper above their enemies.

Psalms 1:4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

Often times it seems as if the enemy has the upper hand, but to the contrary they are without power. The word of God doesn’t support their actions, they are cursed and are cast away like rubbish.

Psalms 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

When their works are called into question, they will fall in judgment, and for their works they will be condemned to death having no part in the blessing of the righteous.

Psalms 1:6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

The Lord has provided security for his people. When they pray he will answer them, but will reject the cries of the wicked. In judgment the righteous will condemn the wicked as it is written. “ No weapon formed against us shall prosper”.

Lord I thank you for each day of our lives, and for the understanding that we have the power to overcome the flesh. Thank you that we are safe under your care, hidden from the plans of the enemy. Thank you for the authority you have placed in our hands to rule over the enemy of our lives. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
