Genesis 2:2-3 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
The debate over the Sabbath is an ongoing struggle for many in the Church, and as a result of this struggle there has been many indifferences among God’s people. Because of the lack of knowledge concerning this set apart day we are divided, and divided the devil will find it easy to separate and destroy.
The Bible called the devil a roaring lion, who seeks to destroy his prey, and if we are not careful, he will fine that opportunity to separate us from the pack; at which time the lioness, his demons can rip us a part. But to avoid this judgment we need to stay together praying always as one, for it is written, “where two are three are gathered in my name I am in the midst of them to fulfill their request.
This means we are to be forgiven of one another, we are to bare one another’s burden, and we are to love one another. Without these attributes we are left in the dark, far away from God, as we are told, ” He that says he loves the Lord, but hates his brother is a liar”.
Now concerning the Sabbath what do we know about it? we know it is the seventh day, that God rested the Sabbath, and separated the day. And in other areas of scripture He gave instruction for us to rest on the Sabbath, and this is where we are divided over the issue. However, that we might all have a clear understanding of the Sabbath, and how to fulfill the Sabbath I will begin by explaining the purpose of the Sabbath.
