Exodus 12:11-12 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S Passover. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
Apart of God‘s plan of redemption was to put an end to the power of the gods of Egypt, which is also a symbol of God putting an end to the power of the prince of the air, Satan and those working against us. Paul told us we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places, demons working in the unseen world against our cause in this world.
However, as children and partakers of the Passover sacrifice, we were partakers of the glory of God, and the power He demonstrated over the powers of the gods of Egypt. Through His act of deliverance, God showed the nation of Israel He was indeed the true and living God. And we like Israel were partakers of the sacrifice, and covered under the blood of the Lamb, we were also safely delivered from the land of bondage.
Israel, God’s mark and symbol of the coming end of the age, is a sign to the world, and, an example for us to understand the love and power of God to deliver. God in the land of Egypt prepared a table, and a meal, the Passover inviting everyone who would depend on Him to sit at meat with Him. The stranger was invited, the Gentiles and the son was invited, Israel, and together they entered the Lord’s Passover and covenant.
The Passover was the Lord’s, a picture of God preparing a table for His people, and inviting the world to sit at His table He has prepared for us a way out of judgment. It was the Day of the Lord, the Lord’s Passover, the day the gods were judged. and now that God has judged the gods, what should we do? We as delivered children should now walk on the corpses of the enemy, and we should trample them in the dust, for our God is a mighty God. Gen 3:14-15}
Israel ate at the Lord’s Table that evening, in one house they break bread, and eating they rejoiced before the Lord as the terror of death passed over the city. In every house there was death, but for Israel’s, God had set His people apart, which was a demonstration to the world that He had chosen His people.
Dressed they were prepared to leave Egypt, with their goods packed, their camels and donkeys loaded, and their children at their side they were ready to leave Egypt. So we were as little children when we first heard the gospel, ready to leave a life of sin, and here we are. And I encourage you to continue on the journey, ready toward the promised land. The gods has been judged, and we have absolute power over the kingdom.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
