I keep on coming back the book of Psalm one, and my prayer has taken on a new identity, and so far I have seem great changes as I come to the understanding of God‘s word. The road to success is before us all, but to get onto the road of success we need first seek the kingdom of God. However, to the world, this may seem foolish to pray, but the reality is God is the Creator, and as His children, we are to ask Him for what we desire, and He will grant it to us.
However, how do we get on that road, the plan to success is clearly laid out for us in the Psalm. First we are to avoid the counsel of the ungodly, the advice of those who are leading people away from God’s law, the advice of those who seek to achieve their goals without God’s counsel, and departing from the way of darkness.
The man who leaves the path of the ungodly, sinner, and the scornful, will be supported by the kingdom of God, and in that support he will find all he need to be successful. Without the support of God, no man on earth can prosper; the hand of God to fulfill God’s will for His people supports even the evil man at times.
Remember Pharaoh in Egypt, God told him he had made him great, so that He God may declare His glory through him. Egypt became a mighty country, but God through the power of His hand delivered His people from such great power.
Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
The next step toward success is to know God’s promises, and we are like trees planted by rivers of water in the kingdom of God when we walk after the law of God. Moreover, planted by streams of water, a tree has all it needs to survive. When in need it reaches out and the water is there, so are we when we walk not after the world, but after the law and will of God.
The word of God said, “Whatever we do shall prosper, and having this promise we are to move forward in the will of God for our lives. Sometimes it seems difficult to do, but that is because we are paying too much attention to our enemies. Nevertheless, we comforted on this matter, our enemies will not stand in the day of testing, nor can they prevent us.
Psalms 1:2-3 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
While we are standing for Christ, suffering the abuse of the wicked, and those living their lives apart from the will of God. We are not to allow their abuse to distract us from the path of life. We are to stand firm, knowing the kingdom of God supports us in everything we do, and everywhere we go.
Psalms 1:4-5 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
God knows each one of us, and whether we are standing up for his cause or not, and so if we are confident we are walking in the will of God, we have nothing to fear.
Psalms 1:6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
