James said, we are to be doers of God‘s word and not hears only, for if we are hearers only we are deceiving ourselves. The man who hears the word, and does them not is like a man who looks as his natural face in a mirror, and as soon as he walks away he forgets what manner of man he was. What this means is that he hears the word of God, but because he did not purposed in himself to obey God, he is a man lacking understanding. (James 1:22
For him to hear the word and purposed himself in doing what he hears, he must first be born again. Jesus once told us, “Except a man is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God, nor can he enter therein. John told us we are to bring forth fruits unto righteousness, and if we fail to do so, “The axe is at the root of the tree, and any tree which brings not forth good fruit is cut down, cast out to be burned.”
Jesus therefore told us, “Blessed are the poor in spirit“, meaning supported are those who upon hearing the word, and purposed in their hearts to obey the word of God, and following the word without returning to the world. That man will be supported by the kingdom of God, which is the meaning of the word blessed, for it means to show support that a man may produce and bring forth substance. And because he has purposed in his heart to obey God, God will support his roots, so that he bring fort fruit unto righteousness.
Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” This man is not poor, he is rather humble, and obedient to the word of God, and as a result he is supported by the kingdom, and authority of God.
