Matthew 8:28-29 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, what have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Satan is terrified of Jesus, knowing who He was at His first appearance, to the human race; they were terrified on account of the judgment. They knew that their time on earth was over; Christ came to judge the world over which they ruled. Seeing Jesus and being terrified of Him, they cried out, “Have you come to torment us before the time?”

Does Satan know there is an appointed time to come when he will be judged? According to the cries of the demons cast out of the man Jesus healed, it seems to suggest they are aware of this appointment.

Some say there is no hell for us to fear, others death is the final end, but if we are to be sure, here we have the testimony of the demons crying, being fully aware of the torments to come at the end.

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
