The Ark is Found / Yearly Atonement

The Sacrifice of the Old Covenant

Leviticus 16:14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.

In our distant past God gave Moses instructions concerning the blood of the atonement, once a year the priest was to appear before the Lord to make atonement for the sins of the people. On that day the entire nation of Israel was commanded to be present confessing their sins the priest was to enter the holy of holies to offer the blood sacrifice before the Lord sprinkling the blood upon the mercy seat.

The seat was the place and throne of God; it was called the mercy seat for such is the kingdom of God. God being God rules with mercy and through the substitute of the blood of bulls God would make atonement for the nation. These past sacrifices; however, were shadow pictures of the true blood that was to be offered making atonement, not just for Israel, but for the entire world.

Through this blood the world would come into the grace of God by which they would receive forgiveness. But in-order for the atonement to be complete the blood must be sprinkled on the mercy seat. But the Ark being lost how was this possible? If there was no ark for the priest to sprinkle the blood, how was he to offer the atoning blood?

Without the blood on the mercy seat the world would find neither peace nor mercy; therefore, to protect and ensure the blood would make atonement for the world God hid the ark in the place where His son would die whose blood would fall on the seat making atonement.

So where is the ark? Look for my next few posts where we will discuss its location and the day it was lost. Follow me on this great journey. 🙂
